The Microscope: preview excerpt #2

Wishing a Happy New Year to you all.

A light breeze slips in through the window ajar;
the fizzy air of the morning freshens up the room.
The white linen curtain, pulled a little to one side
to let in a bit of light for you, barely moves.
Your brush dances lightly over the canvas delicately,
barely touching its weave,
covering it with bright colors.
Tones of light blue, green, yellow, blue…
Your hand, constant, moves decisively.
Able and precise, it follows the rhythm of your breathing,
the beating of your heart.
Oh, a harmony all its own.
It hesitates a second.
It stops.
Your head leans a bit to one side.
Your being loses itself in the horizon of that landscape,
in the nuances of a wave,
in the details of a little leaf,
in the reflections of the sun.
In the smell of oil and solvents.
Your soul is carried away.
For it, the blackbird in the garden isn’t whistling…
